“True heroism is remarkably sober,
very undramatic.
It is not the urge to surpass all others
at whatever cost,
but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.”
-Arthur Ashe

Dear Friends,

For 26 years, we have gathered in support of Hospice Care Network’s annual gala. This year, we are unable to gather for this event in person, but we plan to keep the tradition alive. We invite you to join us for our Virtual Gala—an opportunity for friends and supporters to help raise vitally important funds for our organization. Please watch our inspirational video. You will hear stories of Hospice Care Network’s tireless efforts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. These are tales of hope and compassion from our healthcare heroes. The video will be available through December 31st.

Hospice Care Network quickly stepped to the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. From this vantage point we’ve witnessed first-hand the heartbreaking challenges and true devastation caused by this disease. As an organization whose very mission it is to alleviate the physical, emotional and spiritual effects of serious illness, we knew it was our responsibility to ease these burdens for our community.

Hospice Care Network’s healthcare heroes—our doctors, nurses, aides, social, emotional and spiritual counselors, and many more skilled and caring individuals—took on COVID-19 without hesitation. We recognized how critical our expertise would be helping our community through the pandemic’s unprecedented challenges.

In welcoming COVID-19 patients to our program, we gave the comfort of our expert pain and symptom management. We provided family members the ability to hold the hand of their dying loved one. We afforded the solace of spiritual connection through our pastoral care. And we offered much-needed support for the grieving through our bereavement counseling.

As our community copes with heightened feelings of grief and uncertainty, it seems fitting that funds raised through our Virtual Gala will support Hospice Care Network’s Fay J. Lindner Foundation Hope and Healing Centers, which provide a safe place to express grief while inspiring hope for the future. Not funded by Medicare, Medicaid or other insurance companies, this program relies solely on grants, donations and fundraising efforts, many of which were canceled this year due to the pandemic.

Hospice Care Network’s mission to care for seriously ill patients and their families has proven to be more crucial now than ever. Please pass the Virtual Gala link along to Family and Friends so they too can celebrate our very own healthcare heroes.

With gratitude,
